Mayor of Chemnitz visits HÖRMANN Vehicle Engineering

The Lord Mayor of Chemnitz, Sven Schulze, and his spokesperson for the economy, Silvana Bergk, were guests at HÖRMANN Vehicle Engineering on July 8. They discussed joint topics for the mobility of the future in Chemnitz.

Senior Vice President Business Development Dr. Volkmar Vogel gave the guests a brief outline of the company's development with its wide range of vehicle development projects for rail vehicles, special vehicles and motorcycles.

From the perspective of the city of Chemnitz, joint projects with partners in the Chemnitz region, for example with DB Erzgebirgsbahn and Chemnitzer Verkehrs-AG, as well as ongoing tasks with several clients from Chemnitz's twin city Düsseldorf, were of particular interest.

A particular focus of the presentation was the current activities of HÖRMANN Vehicle Engineering for the use of hydrogen fuel cells in streetcars. For the route extensions planned by the city of Chemnitz in the urban area, a hybrid solution with overhead line and sectional fuel cell operation could represent a pioneering solution for the future.

In the discussion, it became clear that, in line with the regional economic structure, there are already various activities in preparation for the "European Capital of Culture 2025". The city of Chemnitz promised further intensive exchange and contact with the vehicle developer HÖRMANN Vehicle Engineering.
